Ltd have for the past 3 years provided a complete nationwide
wheelie bin cleaning service for Marks and Spencers
PLC. This includes all stores from Cornwall to Scotland,
Wales and Northern Ireland.
Each store is responsible for its own waste disposal
has benefited from this Bin Cleaning Service.
Veolia Environmental Services are the waste contractor
for Marks and Spencers PLC and they needed to provide
a Bin Cleaning service. The challenge for BCC was 450
stores with approximately 1500 waste containers spread
over
every
major town and
city throughout the UK and with the work to be completed
within a 3 month window.

Routine Planning:
The total number of stores that required bin cleaning
was over 450 with a total of 1500 containers located
nationwide. All stores were divided by county and then
grouped within that split by bin empty day to provide
the work schedules and driver reports sheets.
Cleaning Process:
The Bin Cleaning Company contacts the stores the day before they are due to be
cleaned, as a matter of courtesy and in case there is any reason that a visit
would be inconvenient for the store. The team arrives on site and removes the
bin from the bin storage area to a safe place to complete the cleaning process.
The
bins are secured to the bin cleaning machinery and a manual pre wash is completed,
the container is then lifted and any water used is emptied back in to the machinery
for recycling. The machine then completes a secondary wash and rinse. The bin
is drained and returned to the lowered position on the machine to be dried, disinfected
and deodorised.
All containers receive a thorough clean before being returned
to the bin standing area or cupboards, which are swept, disinfected and deodorised.
The
cleaning area is then inspected for any mess and tidied. The driver completes
the bin condition forms as required and obtains a signature from the duty manager.
Client Support:
A fully detailed report is prepared at each month end providing a breakdown of
every store that has been cleaned, the totals of containers at each location
and
if required the condition of the bins can also be reported. All staff are fully
trained in the operation of the machinery.
The feedback from M&S stores to
Veolia Environmental Services has been so positive over the past 3 years with
staff from all levels commenting on the impressive quality of the work completed.
The
whole cleaning process is completed by BCC without the need of constant supervision
from
the client. All major accounts are managed by senior staff within the organisation
that ensures the information flow is accurate and that reports are delivered
on
time.

The Bin Cleaning Company Ltd has continued to ensure that a full inspection of
the cleaning process has been assessed for a safe working environment. Each part
of the process
has little if any risk and this is provided in the Company’s method statement.
The Company holds Public Liability and Employee Liability insurance of £5m
and £10m
respectively.

highest possible. This status has remained in place since 2001.
